Principle and application
The kit is based on sandwich immunochromatographic assay to detect feline calicivirus (FCV) antigen and feline
herpes virus(FHV) antigen in feline ocular secretions, nasal fluid,or saliva, which is rapid, accurate and
easy-to-operate.
Sensitivity and specificity
The kit is 96.00% sensitive to FHV antigen, the specificity is 98.33%, total agreement is 97.40%.
The kit is 97.00% sensitive to FCV antigen, the specificity is 99.20%, total agreement is 98.57%.
The kit does NOT detect antigens of FPV, FIPV etc.
Limitation of the methodology
? The kit is for screening purposes and on-site testing. Positive results shall be further confirmed by PCR and/or other
official methodologies. Diagnosis of FCV/FHV shall be determined by the vet, considering both clinical symptoms
and laboratory tests.
? Negative results indicate that FCV/FHV antigen was not detected in the tested sample, but if acute symptoms
were observed, we cannot exclude the possibility of FCV/FHV infection.
? As the FCV/FHV vaccine is attenuated, the test card may give a false positive result under this condition, but this
phenomenon will disappear after vaccination (3-10 days). In addition, those animals treated with monoclonal
antibodies will generate corresponding secondary antibodies, so a false positive result is possible in this condition.
